Megan Mahew

Overview

Megan is a PhD student at Nottingham Trent University focusing on metabolomic oncology via the application of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Her research utilises cell models as a basis for the identification of metabolomic biomarkers for cancer.

Within her research, Megan uses a wide range of equipment including benchtop and high-field nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, an array of microscopes and sample preparation equipment including biosafety cabinets, incubators, centrifuges, rotor evaporator, and the freeze dryer.

Prior to starting her PhD, Megan gained experience in setting up and validating laboratory workflows for private diagnostic testing including PCR testing, ELISA assays, and blood tests.

I feel honoured as a PhD student to have the opportunity to work alongside the team at MTIF. The working environment is very friendly and supportive. The wealth of knowledge within the team has helped me to develop my professional skills and has aided me in problem-solving throughout my time here.
