Quantum Design UK and Ireland’s success in distributing scientific products comes from more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing and distributing its own industry-leading materials characterisation systems.

This partnership will offer customers the opportunity to view and utilise the JA Woollam IR VASE II Spectroscopic Ellipsometer, making it the only instrument available to customers in the UK.

The nature of Ellipsometry makes it ideal for diagnostics in several sectors such as semiconductor devices, photovoltaics, nano-photonics, flat panel displays, optical coating stacks, construction materials, biological and medical coatings, protective layers as well as real-time quality control.

Nikolaos Kalfagiannis, a Senior Independent Research Fellow in the Department of Physics and Mathematics from the NTU, is in charge of this device. He has recently wrote an article about when Ellipsometry works bests, a case study with tansparent conductive oxides.

Quantum Design UK and Ireland also runs events in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University and MTIF. For more details on all of the upcoming events click here.

We believe this collaboration will give researchers the opportunity for a huge variety of applications, without needing the equipment in their own research laboratory.
