The new Medical Technologies Innovation Facility (MTIF) is an innovative approach to accelerating the development of medical technologies from “bench to bedside”. This dual site development will comprise a 2,500m2 new building at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) Clifton Campus and a 1,000m2 new building at the Boots Enterprise Zone (BEZ). Both will be equipped with laboratories, clean rooms and specialist equipment, facilitating a collaborative innovation space in which dedicated staff will research and develop new products and services. The centre, due to open in August 2020, aims to develop close relationships between academia, industry and the NHS to get better products to patients quicker.

This is a significant infrastructure and people investment, initially amounting to some £23m. It is funded by The Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership (D2N2 LEP) and NTU. The unique “bench to bedside” offer is delivered collaboratively with strategic partners such as BioCity, CHEATA, EMAHSN, MediLink and the Derby and Nottingham NHS Trusts, creating an industry leading service for companies both local and international. MTIF will offer service features that create benefits for companies of all sizes and will be an attractive development partner for Start-Ups, Small Medium Enterprises, and Large Enterprises who operate within the healthcare, life sciences, Med-Tech and pharma industries.

MTIF is now seeking a Research Assistant – New Product Development to work with the Technical Director to establish, maintain and run our ISO13485:2016 Quality Management System (QMS). Once the QMS has been established the Researcher will focus on Biological Science research primarily addressing the challenges of Allogenic Cell Therapy. Working with leading scientists from NTU and other institutions the Researcher will establish state-of-the-art facilities enabling our customers to take new cell therapies from “bench to bedside”. This is a great opportunity to build a unique capability in a unique facility that will accelerate the development of innovative medical technologies and improving the lives of patients around the world.
